Hope it helps someone here in the community. I’m under the impression not all fixes are the same for everyone. I checked the compatibility with the video card, but that was never the issue. My PC runs Win10 with an Intel i7 and 64Gb RAM. I use an external Focusrite Scarlett soundcard, with its own ASIO drivers. In combination with the ASIO Guard “high” you won’t get a latency higher than 23ms, which is perfectly fine. In the same setting, I switched my audio buffer from 128 to 512.In Cubase under Studio Setup, I kept ASIO Guard “on” and switched it to “high”.Some sound drivers get confused, depending on the brand. In my case I had drivers for sound that was built-in in my screens, so I disabled that in Windows Control Panel. Disable all audio drivers other than the one you use for your DAW.I tried switching hyper-threading off but then it got worse, so I left that as it was. In my PC hyper-threading is also “on”.In your BIOS, make sure you are NOT overclocking your CPU.Not a single blip, peep or spike anymore. Just spent 3 hours working on a project with 37 (!) tracks in it, all big orchestral library instruments. This PC SETUP is what fixed it for me today. Okay, been struggling with this for weeks since 10.5. Unless of course any one knows a short cut to figuring this out. If that doesn’t work I’ll have to go through each plugin to see which one is a problem. I’m gong to make sure all my plugins are up to date and see if that helps. Any idea on a short cut to determining the problem plugin? I obviously have an offending plugin as well. Turn off the VST3 option and the problem goes away. Your temp fix worked for me though I’m not using the DMG plugin. I tried the beta version and it works correctly with the VST3 option ON. There is a public beta release with this fix that you are welcome to use until the official update is out: I have added a workaround fix for this for the next update. Recalculating the EQ can be costly on CPU and in this case it’s happening constantly, hence the high CPU usage you are seeing. We use it as an opportunity to setup the EQ. This call means it’s about to start processing audio and we usually expect it just once before the processing starts. If enabled, Cubase continually sends a call to setProcessing when playback is stopped or in silence. Indeed, there is an issue with that ‘suspend’ setting and EQuilibrium. Within hours I received a response from DMG: In my system / project, one VST3 plug-in had issues with CBase 10.5 and this VST3 option when ON: The excellent DMG Equilibrium EQ. Unchecking this stopped the CPU overload. The problem and cause probably varies for some updaters but for me the CPU overload was related to the VST3 option to - turn off the plug-in when no audio was present.
